Our Story
Nagesh is a guy from Hyderabad, India and Jackie is a girl from the American midwest. When you hear that two people who grew up in the two most opposite places in the world, are getting married, the first question that may come to mind is … how? Well, we like to think that we just got really lucky, and happened to be at the same place at the same time …. The internet.
In early 2016, we met in the truly modern-day fashion, on the web, while we were both living in the Kansas City area and just starting out on our careers. Our online chats quickly turned into near constant text messages which then became calls, and video calls and we both knew quickly that we felt something special and wanted to meet in person.
For our first date, Jackie was on a strict cleanse (Whole30 anyone?) and thus couldn’t go out for dinner, and it was winter in the midwest, so the activity options were truly limited. We decided that the best option to be able to talk and spend time together was to walk around our favorite building in the city, Union Station. It was there in the Grand Hall that we shared our nervous giggles, talked about life (we got deep for the first date), and found a truly special spark and connection!
After our first date, it felt like things went quickly and as soon as Nagesh’s baby, Whiskey, gave official approval of Jackie, we became virtually inseparable. We loved trying new food (mostly new for Jackie), going to events in the city, and having lots of movie nights. After traveling together to Chicago several times and sharing our desire to expand our careers in a bigger market, we took a leap of faith and moved together to Chicago at the end of 2017.
With a whole new city and lots of new food to explore, we conquered Chicago (and lots of deep dish pizza) together and realized that we both shared common values, wanted the same things from life, and generally just liked being together. We were in it for the long haul.
In October 2020, Nagesh proposed at our beloved Union Station on a visit to Kansas City and Jackie (of course!) said yes!
We’re now planning our special day from the third city we’ve called home together, Dallas, and cannot wait to celebrate our love with all of our favorite people in the place where it all began!
XOXO,
Jackie & Nagesh
